On the 7th of February 2014 at the EU Info Center was held Final conference within the project “Inclusion of Informal Roma waste collectors into the formal waste schemes”, founded by the European Union through the European Instrument for Democracy and Human Rights (EIDHR), in implementation of MDC-Ti.NET – Skopje, with the partner organizations Avena – Kochani, Planetum – Strumica and Regional Enterprise Support Centre –Skopje. Opinions about the situation gave Mr. Robert LIDDELL, Head of Section for Political & Justice and Home Affairs Issues, Mr. Rakip Dochi, Director of PUC Komunalna Higiena, Skopje, Ms. Biljana Miteva, Director of Eko Pak Hit, Kochani, Mr. Branko Georgiev, Head of Unit “Chistota” at PCE – Komunalec, Strumica and Mr. Filip Ivanovski, Director of PAKOMAK. This event was organized with aim to present the results of the implementation of the project and to draw recommendations for undertaking further actions for the informal waste collectors in terms of improving their social / health / pension benefits and their economic stability and security. The event was closed with presentation of the documentary movie “Plastic dreams – The life of the informal waste collectors”.
